TSC Member, Gen. Jabir Meets UN Secretary-General, Arab League Secretary-General

The member of the Transitional Sovereign Council (TSC), head of the Sudanese delegation to the Arab League meetings met with the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, which he is visiting to participate in the Arab summit activities.
The TSC member briefed the UN Secretary-General on Sudan’s vision regarding the developments in the situation in the country, particularly the targeting of civilian establishment and services in Port Sudan and other cities by drones, a statement by the media Department at the Transitional Sovereign Council said.
Jaber has emphasized that this type of drones could not be possessed by a militia and that the United Arab Emirates has been behind supplying the militia with these weapons.
For his part, the UN Secretary-General has described targeting civilian facilities by drones as a serious development in light of the efforts being made to stop the war, pointing to the UN’s hope for positive visions, especially the roadmap proposed by Sudan and the possibility of its implementation in cooperation with the UN and international organizations.
Meanwhile, the head of the Sudanese delegation has received the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, at his residence in Baghdad, in the presence of the delegation members, accompanied by Assistant Secretary-General, Ambassador Hossam Zaki.
Zaki explained in statements that the meeting touched on the ongoing developments in Sudan, noting that the views have been identical between the two sides on all discussed issues. He affirmed that the Arab League has enhanced its diplomatic role through coordination with the United Nations and the African Union via a tripartite mechanism to halt the war in Sudan.
He further revealed the consensus on a decision from the Arab League supporting Sudan’s unity and sovereignty over its territory, preserving its institutions, and not interfering in its internal affairs, which strengthens Sudan’s position in facing the challenges ahead.
The Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League expressed hope that the efforts made would lead to achieving peace and stability in Sudan.
