Amjad Farid, Advisor to the Chairman of the Sovereign Council for Political Affairs and Foreign Relations, has stated that he found in the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Abdulaziz Al-Wasil, an accurate understanding of the nature of the campaigns, and those behind them, that target the Sudanese government. He added that Al-Wasil possessed “a clear awareness of the attempts to distort the facts of the crisis and create an alternative reality that seeks to justify the war and the positions of the powers supporting it. This understanding is reflected in the balanced and clear Saudi stand regarding resolution of the crisis and ending the war in Sudan.”

Farid added, in a tweet he posted on his X account (formerly Twitter) this morning (Wednesday), that he was honored to meet “the courteous and distinguished diplomat, His Excellency Ambassador Abdulaziz Al-Wasil, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom, at the Saudi Mission in New York.”
He said he has conveyed to him “the appreciation of the Sudanese people and government for the sincere and brotherly stances that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has consistently taken towards Sudan during this difficult ordeal, and for the continuous political and humanitarian support that the Kingdom has provided to Sudan amidst the disaster our country is experiencing, befitting the Kingdom’s great stature and its positive and responsible role in the region. We also expressed our appreciation for the ongoing efforts exerted by Saudi Arabia to contribute to ending the war in Sudan, particularly the efforts of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in supporting peaceful solutions, especially his role in clarifying the nature of the Sudanese crisis to the US Administration, during his recent visit there.”

In the tweet, Advisor Amjad Farid stated that he discussed with the Saudi diplomat “the war of narratives and disinformation campaigns that some parties are attempting to promote regarding the Sudanese government and the nature of the war in Sudan.”

The advisor to the Chairman of the Sovereign Council met yesterday with the African members of the UN Security Council (Somalia, Congo, and Liberia) and briefed them on the details and nature of the situation in Sudan and the Security Council’s role in it. He emphasized that regional parties are deliberately distorting the facts about the war being waged by the Sudanese army against the Rapid Support Forces militia.

The advisor to the Chairman of the Sovereign Council is currently visiting the United States, where he has held meetings in Washington, D.C., and New York with members of Congress and UN representatives to explain the situation in Sudan and the Sudanese government’s vision for ending the war.
