The Federation of Sudanese Chambers of Industry Welcomes Government’s Focus on Production
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Federation of Sudanese Chambers of Industry welcomed the “Government of Hope’s” initiative to direct Sudanese resources and capital towards work and production in the agricultural, industrial, and infrastructure sectors.
The Sudan News Agency quoted the Federation’s Secretary-General, Abbas Ali Al-Sayed, as saying that they are confident the “Government of Hope’s” decisions to focus on increasing production and contribution of manufacturing to exports will bear fruit soon
Abbas has explained that a country such as the Sudan, with its potential, cannot be a consumer, noting that any country that relies on customs duties on imports for its revenue is a failed and impoverished state unable to provide services to its citizens.
He called on the private sector, especially import companies, to shift towards productive sectors such as agriculture, livestock, and manufacturing and extractive industries, in response to the national call.
The chamber official has reaffirmed that Sudan possesses a substantial industrial base, along with accumulated expertise and experience. He added that this expertise and potential could be revived and developed through the will and determination of the Sudanese private sector, coupled with the support of the government through sound, practical, and objective policies and implementable plans.
The Secretary-General of the Federation of Chambers of Industry explained that countries devastated by war, such as Germany, emerged from their state of failure to become major industrial powers. Similarly, Japan, despite its limited resources and weaknesses, rose to become a major economic force through industry, production, and manufacturing, becoming the third largest economy in the world. More recently, China, over the past three decades, has transformed into the world’s largest exporter and producer. We in Sudan must keep these examples in mind.
