Sudan’s Ministry of Agriculture and Türkiye’s Konya University Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthening Cooperation

Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, Dr. Fatima Rahma, has reaffirmed the ministry’s desire to strengthen scientific cooperation with Konya University.

During a meeting held on Monday in Khartoum with the university’s Vice Rector, the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and explored prospects for agricultural collaboration and development aimed at supporting Sudan’s agricultural sector.

Dr. Fatima praised Türkiye’s role in supporting Sudan, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination and cooperation to address the impact of the war on the agricultural sector. She also expressed her appreciation to the Vice Rector of Konya University and the Turkish government for their support of Sudan’s agriculture and irrigation sectors.

The discussions covered opportunities to expand agricultural investments and partnerships, implement specialized training programs, rehabilitate agricultural laboratories, and strengthen cooperation in agricultural engineering. The two sides also explored establishing centers for the manufacturing and maintenance of agricultural machinery, local production of seeds and fertilizers, and the creation of joint training centers.

The parties agreed to prepare a comprehensive memorandum of understanding covering various areas of agricultural cooperation, while also examining the possibility of launching investment projects and strategic partnerships that would advance agricultural development goals and enhance technical and professional capacities.
