Sudan’s Health Minister Reviews Strengthening Joint Efforts in Support of the Health System

The Sudanese Health Minister Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim met on Thursday, at his office in Khartoum, with representatives from several international organizations to discuss strengthening joint efforts in implementing health projects and presenting a unified vision to donors, particularly those from the World Bank, to offer a comprehensive package aligned with health priorities, according to the Sudan News Agency.
Participating in the meeting were representatives from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the Sudanese American Medical Association (SAPA), all of whom were keen to learn about the Federal Ministry of Health’s vision for the coming period.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the current health situation and the progress of medical services, emphasizing the focus on revitalizing the health system.
The meeting also reviewed UNFPA’s efforts in maternal and child health, IOM’s efforts in providing basic healthcare services to migrants, internally displaced persons, and returnees, and SABA’s contributions to rehabilitating health facilities and hospitals and providing basic healthcare services.
The meeting emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts between the Ministry, international organizations and partners to ensure the sustainability of health services and enhance Sudan’s ability to meet current challenges.
