Ambassador Muawiya Osman Khalid, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met on Thursday —on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly—with Ronald Moolenaar, Acting Under-Secretary-General and Head of the Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States.
Khalid affirmed Sudan’s commitment to advancing the development interests of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), in his capacity as Vice-Chair of the group, and outlined the country’s efforts regarding economic recovery, digital transformation, and agricultural sector development.
The meeting also addressed ways to leverage the outcomes of the Doha Programme of Action, particularly concerning resilience-building, food security mechanisms, and sustainable graduation from the LDC category.

The Undersecretary emphasized Sudan’s full engagement in the preparatory activities for the Doha Programme of Action’s midterm review—scheduled for next March—and expressed the country’s readiness to contribute to strengthening the partnership between the Office and the State of Qatar.
