The Attorney General of the Republic of Sudan, Moulana Al-Fatih Taifour, has welcomed the investigation team’s visit into crimes committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The team, formed by a decision of the Arab Lawyers Union, comprises a group of experts and lawyers specializing in international criminal investigations.

The announcement was made during a meeting on Wednesday in Port Sudan between Taifour and a delegation from the Sudanese Bar Association. This marks his second meeting since assuming the role of Attorney General. Taifour commended the bar association, led by Moulana Osman Al-Sharif, for its international and regional efforts in supporting the Sudanese people and victims of the ongoing war.

The meeting reviewed the significant progress made by the National Committee for Investigating International Crimes and Violations, chaired by the Attorney General. Discussions also focused on ways to enhance cooperation between the committee and the bar association.

Attendees expressed their satisfaction with the visit by the Arab investigation team, describing it as the first step toward collaborative efforts to achieve justice and fairness for war victims, displaced persons, and those affected both inside and outside the country.

Moulana Yasser Bashir Bukhari, Assistant Attorney General, attended the meeting alongside members of the bar association, including Tarig Abdel Fattah, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab Lawyers Union; Emad Al-Din Al-Fadni, Secretary-General of the Sudanese Bar Association; and Al-Taj Khidr, the national coordinator for the investigation team.
