Sudan’s Ambassador to Washington: The UAE, Those Fueling the Conflict in Sudan Will Be Held Accountable

Sudan’s Ambassador to Washington, Mohammed Abdullah Idris, has called on the United States Administration to designate the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia as an international terror organization.

Addressing a press conference held today at the National Press Club in Washington, and attended by numerous international and global news agencies, major American newspapers, and writers, the ambassador provided a detailed explanation of the Sudanese government’s efforts to end the threat posed by the militia.

Idris appealed to the international community to work to stop the flow of weapons to the militia and to hold regional instigators of the conflict in Sudan accountable.

The head of the mission in Washington reiterated the Sudanese government’s commitment to a civilian transition, calling on the international community to support the government of Kamil Idris.

He also reaffirmed the Sudanese government’s commitment to implementing the road-map it announced, which culminates in free and internationally monitored elections in which the Sudanese people choose their representatives to lead the country.

He stated that Sudanese message to the world through this conference is that the people of El Fasher need protection from the genocide being perpetrated by the militia.

Ambassador Idris called for an immediate halt to arms flows to Sudan and affirmed that the UAE and other instigators of the war in Sudan would be held accountable and would not escape punishment.

The ambassador expressed his hope that the efforts led by the US Congress would result in decisive resolutions against the rebellion and those fueling the conflict in Sudan.

The ambassador was in Washington at the start of the conference, providing an overview of the widespread violations and acts of genocide being perpetrated by militias in El Fasher.
