Sudan’s Ambassador in Tehran to Sudanhorizon: We Are So Far Safe, But Prepared for the Case Scenario

Tehran – Sudanhorizon – Mariam Abshir
Sudan’s Ambassador to Iran, Abdulaziz Hassan Saleh, said that the situation of the diplomatic mission in Tehran and that of the Sudanese community in Iran remain safe as of today (Wednesday).
In an exclusive statement to the Sudanhorizon news website, Ambassador Saleh revealed that they are experiencing difficulties with internet communication due to network outages. However, the mission is to maintain contact with all community groups in Iranian cities and provinces by making direct calls to check on their conditions. He confirmed that all members of the mission and their families, students, and the wider Sudanese community are safe, and that communication with them is ongoing regularly via direct telephone contact.
Ambassador Saleh added that the mission has begun activating its previous emergency plan, which had been prepared during the Israeli and American aggression against Iran. He noted that the mission has completed its readiness based on its prior experience, should the situation in Iran—God forbid—deteriorate and require the implementation of evacuation operations for the community.
He further disclosed that the mission’s evacuation contingency plan, should conditions worsen, prioritises families first, followed by students, and then the rest of the community.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has been witnessing protests across various provinces for about two weeks, demanding improvements in living conditions amid the decline in the value of the national currency. Some aspects of these demonstrations have evolved into calls for the regime’s departure.
Both the United States of America and Israel have announced their support for the protesters and their endorsement of regime change. President Trump has threatened direct intervention in Iran, while China and Russia have opposed Western steps.
