Sudanese Energy Minister: Seeking Urgent Solutions to Electricity Services Challenges

The Sudanese Minister of Energy, Al-Mutasim Ibrahim Ahmed, affirmed the ministry’s commitment and serious efforts to find urgent solutions to electricity problems, in addition to rehabilitating the national grid following the extensive damage it suffered at the hands of militias.
This came during his meeting with a delegation from the Supreme Council of the People of Merowe, headed by Othman Sayed Ahmed “Ingliz,” and in the presence of Abdullah Ahmed, Director General of the Sudan Electricity Holding Company.
The meeting reviewed the electricity supply situation in Merowe and the people’s suffering due to the unstable power supply in the region. The meeting also discussed emergency solutions to address electricity problems in the residential sector and agricultural projects, aiming to end the suffering of citizens and alleviate their burdens.
The Minister of Energy explained the state’s support for expanding solar energy projects by enacting a special law for them, exempting their inputs from customs duties, and working to secure the necessary financing from banks to encourage agricultural production projects and associations.
