Sudanese Community in Egypt Urges Against Succumbing to Calls for Strife and Racism

Cairo – Sudanhorizon

The Higher Council of the Sudanese Community in Egypt has called upon community members to refrain from reacting to provocations or being drawn into calls for strife, racism, and animosity on social media.

The appeal follows recent incidents that claimed the lives of Sudanese nationals at the border and Egyptian nationals at a popular market in Sudan on Monday.

In a statement issued on Tuesday regarding the two incidents the Council emphasized the need for adhering to the laws in application in each of the two countries. It urged against succumbing to attempts to incite tension between the Sudanese and Egyptian peoples or exploiting these events in a manner that harms their historic relationship.

The statement warned against attempts to undermine Sudanese-Egyptian relations, noting that certain rebel groups and organizations, as well as a third state, might benefit from stoking discord between the peoples and governments of the two nations.

The Supreme Council stressed that relations between peoples should not be swayed by external factors beyond their control. It called for leaving the handling of the incidents’ aftermath to investigative committees and responsible authorities in both countries, thereby allowing the temporary crisis to be managed and overcome with minimal damage.

The Council expressed hope that these incidents would not become a catalyst for fueling hatred or inciting racism, reaffirming the importance of preserving the unity of the Nile Valley peoples, safeguarding relations among Arab nations, and protecting societies from strife and bloodshed.
