Sudanese Army Repels a Drone Attack for the Second Time on Merowe

The armed forces’ anti-aircraft guns confronted a large number of drones launched by the rebel Rapid Support Militia at dawn on Friday, and attacked several sites in Merowe locality, for the second time in 48 hours.

A statement issued by the (19) Infantry Division – Merowe, which was reviewed by Sudanhorizon correspondent, said that the Rapid Support Militia’s drones targeted the division’s command, Merowe Airport, and the Merowe Dam power plant, and that the attack lasted from 2:30 a.m. on Friday until 5 a.m.

The statement confirmed the armed forces’ readiness and preparedness to deal with any foreign objects in the skies of Merowe locality and the Northern State.

According to Sudanhorizon correspondent in Merowe city, the locality’s residents heard loud explosions from the ground anti-aircraft guns of the (19) Division’s defenses, and that the attack caused a complete power outage in the locality.

Local authorities have not yet clarified whether there were material or human losses, and what their extent, if any.
