Sudanese Army Launches Military Operation in North Kordofan

The Sudanese Army began a military operation (Sunday) to regain control over several areas and cities along the route connecting Kosti in the White Nile state and Um Rawaba in the North Kordofan state.
According to field sources speaking to the Sudanhorizon news site, the “Hunter Force” advanced toward Um Rawaba after securing several areas.
The sources also indicated that the army’s Deputy Commander-in-Chief, General Shamseddine Kabbashi, was briefed on the operation’s progress.
The Sovereign Council issued a statement, seen by the Sudanhorizon news site, which said: “As part of his inspection tour of the theatres of operations, Transitional Sovereign Council Member and Deputy Commander-in-Chief, General Shamseddine Kabbashi, visited the White Nile state to check on the progress of the operations.” The statement continued: “He was received by the state governor and the commander of the 18th Infantry Division, Major General Sami Al-Tayeb.”
According to the statement, Kabbashi praised the high morale of the officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers of the 18th Infantry Division and their great sacrifices in ensuring security and stability in the country. He also noted the full support of all sectors of the Sudanese people for the armed forces in their fight for dignity.
