Sudan Welcomes US House Report Acknowledging Militia Violations

Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation welcomed on Thursday the report issued by the US House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee, which condemned attacks on civilians in Sudan and acknowledged the genocide committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia against civilians in Darfur.
In a press statement, the Ministry also welcomed the Committee’s emphasis on Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and its stress of the importance of external parties refraining from providing the militia with weapons, funding, and political cover, as a fundamental condition for ending the war in Sudan.
The Ministry reiterated its readiness to work with Congress, the US administration, and international partners not involved in supporting the rebel militia to end the war, hold perpetrators of atrocities accountable, and designate the RSF militia as a “terrorist organization” as a first step in neutralizing those who support it with weapons and provide it with political cover. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated that achieving peace and stability and building a stable democratic Sudan is the goal that the Government of Hope seeks, based on the principles that guarantee the unity of Sudan and the integrity of its territory.
