Sudan Reaffirms Commitment to Facilitate Humanitarian Aid Procedures

Sudan has reaffirmed its firm stance on facilitating humanitarian aid procedures and enabling international organizations and agencies to carry out their tasks without compromising national sovereignty.
During a meeting in Port Sudan on Monday with the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation, Daniel O’Malley, Sovereign Council Member, Major General Ibrahim Jaber, confirmed the Sudanese government’s readiness to enhance cooperation and coordination with the ICRC in areas such as strengthening international humanitarian law and developing factors that support the ICRC in fulfilling its mandate to assist Sudanese people affected by the war.
The ICRC head described the meeting as successful and productive. The discussion focused on ways to strengthen coordination efforts in areas like promoting international humanitarian law. It also covered how to facilitate ICRC operations so that the organization can effectively support all Sudanese affected by the ongoing conflict.
He emphasized the importance of continuous engagement and information sharing with Sudanese authorities to ensure that the ICRC can provide the required humanitarian support to the Sudanese people. Additionally, he highlighted the role that the ICRC could play as a neutral mediator, particularly in facilitating specific operations.
The ICRC head in Sudan also reiterated his support for those directly affected by the conflict and expressed gratitude to the Sudanese government and Major General Ibrahim Jaber. He conveyed his hope for continued consultations to find solutions to the various challenges.
