Sudan Presents Its Voluntary National Report Today Before the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development

New York – Sudanhorizon
Sudan presented its third Voluntary National Report on sustainable development at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Friday, outlining the progress achieved in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in addition to highlighting the main challenges, opportunities, and lessons learned at the national level. Sudan had previously submitted its first report in 2018 and its second in 2022.
The High-Level Political Forum is one of the most prominent UN platforms for monitoring the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda. It also serves as an effective platform for exchanging experiences and best practices and for enhancing international cooperation, especially in light of the accelerating challenges facing Sudan, along with many developing and post-conflict countries.
Sudan’s delegation participated in the sessions of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, held at the United Nations headquarters in New York from July 14 to 23, headed by the Undersecretary for Economic Planning at the Ministry of Finance, Mohamed Bashar Mohamed Adam. The delegation included Intisar Ibrahim Haj Al-Toum, Director of the Poverty Reduction Department at the Ministry of Finance and official in charge of the sustainable development portfolio, as well as members of the Permanent Mission to the United Nations, represented by Ambassador Abu Zeid Shams Al-Din, Deputy Permanent Representative, and Second Secretary Heba Jaafar Abu Haj, the file officer. They participated in the forum’s activities to support diplomatic and technical coordination efforts.
This year, the forum was held under the theme:
“Reinforcing Sustainable, Inclusive, Science-Based and Evidence-Based Solutions for the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals to Leave No One Behind.”
