The ministerial meeting of the Board of Governors of the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) concluded its sessions today in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

Sudan was represented at the meeting by the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Gibril Ibrahim, alongside several African finance ministers, central bank governors, and representatives of African and international institutions concerned with institutional capacity development across the continent.

In his remarks, the Sudanese minister underscored the importance of investing in national capacity building as a cornerstone for economic recovery and institutional reform in Sudan.
He called for enhancing African partnerships in the areas of training, digital transformation, and public financial management.

On the sidelines of the meetings, Dr. Ibrahim held a series of bilateral discussions with a number of his counterparts and representatives of member states in the Board of Governors, including Ethiopian Finance Minister Ahmed Shide, the Executive Director of the ACBF, and the Chairman of the Foundation’s Executive Board.

He also met with Claver Gatete, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).

The two sides discussed the role UNECA can play in supporting Sudan’s efforts in reconstruction and economic development.
They agreed to identify specific areas for intervention and emergency support for several key sectors during the remainder of the year, in addition to dispatching a technical mission early next year to assess needs and prepare a comprehensive plan for reconstruction and institutional capacity building.
