Sudan Files Complaint Against Ethiopia with the UN Security Council
Sudanhorizon – Maryam Abashar
The Sudanese government, through its Permanent Mission in New York, submitted a formal complaint to the UN Security Council against the Ethiopian government, Friday. The complaint accuses Ethiopia of allowing its territory to be used as a launchpading for attacks against Sudan, specifically targeting infrastructure and civilian installations.
According to a high-ranking diplomatic source who spoke to suda nhorizon ,” the complaint includes evidence and a comprehensive dossier—comprising facts and imagery—that substantiates Ethiopia’s involvement in drone attacks. These strikes have hit vital service facilities and projects that are entirely civilian in nature, as Ethiopia has permitted the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to use its territory as a platform for launching drones against Sudan.
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Muawiya Osman, directly accused Ethiopia of allowing its territory to be used to launch drones targeting Sudan. In a press conference, he affirmed that Sudan reserves its right to repel the aggression.
On Saturday, the Undersecretary provided further confirmation to representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Khartoum regarding Ethiopia’s involvement in drone attacks on electricity and petroleum facilities across several Sudanese states.
Sudan is calling for an international investigation into the Ethiopian authorities’ decision to allow their territory to be used for launching attacks against a neighboring state, while emphasizing that it reserves the right to take further diplomatic steps should the escalation continue. Sudan previously submitted a formal complaint to the Security Council against the United Arab Emirates, accusing it of fueling the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and supplying them with weapons and military equipment via neighboring countries; however, the Council has not responded to the complaint.
