The Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, Burai Al-Sadiq, is chairing the 49th regular session of the Council of Governors of Arab Central Banks and Monetary Authorities, taking place on 17 and 18 September 2025 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Tunis, under the patronage of Tunisian President Kais Saied and organised by the Arab Monetary Fund in cooperation with the Central Bank of Tunisia.
The meetings bring together governors of Arab central banks and monetary authorities, along with representatives from Arab and international financial institutions. This session is regarded as one of the most important coordination platforms for monetary and financial policies in the Arab region.
Under the chairmanship of the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, the meetings will address a number of strategic issues, foremost among them: strengthening central banks’ response to pressures and shocks arising from trade wars, bolstering cybersecurity resilience in the financial sector, advancing the launch of the region-wide instant payments initiative, and reviewing the 2025 Financial Stability Reports and the Joint Arab Economic Report. The meetings will also discuss the plans of Arab working groups specialising in banking supervision, financial inclusion, and modern financial technologies.
