Sudan and Turkey Discuss Media and Cultural Cooperation

Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Khaled Al-Aiser, discussed in Port Sudan on Monday with the Turkish Ambassador to Sudan, Fatih Yildiz, ways for strengthening bilateral relations and activating partnerships between the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism and its counterparts in Turkey.
The two sides reviewed areas including developing and rehabilitating media and cultural institutions, and expanding training and capacity building opportunities.
The Turkish Ambassador affirmed his country’s unwavering support for Sudan in various fields, expressing its full readiness to assist it during the reconstruction phase, particularly in the cultural and media sectors, similar to the partnership established in the tourism and antiquities sector to develop the governorate’s buildings in Suakin area on the Red Sea coast.
He also affirmed his country’s readiness to contribute to reconstruction efforts and continue its support for the Sudanese people.
The meeting, attended by the Undersecretary of Culture and Tourism, Graham Abdel Qader, the Undersecretary of Information, Sumaya Al-Hadi, and Ambassador Ahmed Youssef from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also addressed cooperation in the tourism sector, particularly with regard to the restoration and rehabilitation of historic buildings and the development of historical sites, which would contribute to stimulating domestic tourism and attracting tourists and visitors.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) to contribute in the reconstruction efforts and development of the infrastructure of cultural, media, and tourism institutions in Sudan.
For his part, Minister Khaled Al-Aiser emphasized the strong and historical bilateral relations between Sudan and Turkey, emphasizing the importance of continued joint coordination to implement what was agreed upon, in a way that serves common interests and enhances the role of culture, media, and tourism in the national recovery phase.
