Sudan and Saudi Arabia are Heading Towards Cooperation in the Red Sea

The Minister of Energy and Oil, Dr. Muhiuddin Naeem Mohamed Saeed, said that Sudan’s doors are open for cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of oil and gas, pointing to the special relationship between the two brotherly countries. The Sudanese minister welcomed cooperation with Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea and cooperation with Saudi Aramco.
This came during his meeting in his office on Monday with the Saudi Ambassador Ali bin Hassan Jaafar, which discussed aspects of cooperation between the two countries in a number of fields, most notably cooperation in the Red Sea and cooperation with Aramco and other fields.
The minister said, “We confirm our interest in cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the strategic level and work in the field of oil, gas and fuel trade.”
For his part, the Saudi Ambassador Ali bin Hassan Jaafar stressed the importance of cooperation with Sudan in the field of oil and gas and other fields, referring to the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Sudan in 2021 to exploit oil and gas in the Red Sea. At that time, the Saudi Crown Prince announced the establishment of a Saudi company to invest in Sudan with an initial capital of around five billion dollars, hoping to work on activating the agreements and joint cooperation between the two countries.
His Excellency the Ambassador also wished to arrange a visit for the Minister to meet his Saudi counterpart in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and visit Saudi Aramco.
