Sudan and Iran Agree to Activate Bilateral Cooperation Mechanisms

Sudan and Iran have agreed to activate mechanisms for bilateral cooperation and to convene the Political Consultation Committee at the level of foreign ministers early next year. The two countries also agreed to continue joint efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation in all fields, strengthen coordination on issues of mutual interest, and reaffirm their commitment to supporting each other in international forums.
Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Dr Ali Youssef, met with Iran’s Ambassador to Sudan, Hossein Shah Hosseini, in his office in Port Sudan on Wednesday. The ambassador delivered a congratulatory message from Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, on the Sudanese minister’s appointment.
During their meeting, the Sudanese minister reviewed the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in these relations across various fields.
The Foreign Minister also expressed gratitude for Iran’s supportive stance towards Sudan and its people, noting the alignment of positions between the two countries on many regional and international issues.
For his part, the Iranian ambassador reiterated his country’s support for Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, emphasising Iran’s commitment to helping restore security and stability throughout Sudan.
