The Sudanese government on Monday said the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Chad have conjointly carried out an “aggressive attack” on Sudanese territory. It said it reserves the right to respond to this aggression at the place and time of its choice.
The statement was made at a press conference by the Sudanese Ministers of Defense, Gen. Yassin Ibrahim, Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali Youssef, and Information and Culture, Khaled Al-Aiser.
Al Aiser, the Minister of Information, stressed that the Sudanese “Armed Forces (SAF) have pictures and documents of the UAE supplying Chad with a strategic drone that was launched from Chadian soil to attack Sudanese national territories.”
He added that “this represents a very serious development in the war. It is no longer a war between the Sudanese army and the rebel militias, but rather a war between countries where the UAE and Chad are clearly involved.”
The Minister of Information held the two countries fully responsible for supporting the rebel Rapid Support Militia and for being behind the killing of civilians in the Sudan.
He pointed out that the United Nations, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation were addressed about these developments.
For his part, Defense Minister Gen. Yassin Ibrahim has revealed that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) troops have retaken the Umm Al-Qura area east of Gezira State, central Sudan, and that the rebel Rapid Support Militia had withdrawn from the Sinnar Sugar Factory due to military pressure and the siege imposed by the Sudanese army.
During the press conference in Port Sudan, the minister explained that one of the army’s advance units had reached the outskirts of Umm Rawaba City, North Kordofan State.
The Foreign Minister, Ambassador Ali Youssef, provided detailed information about the violations committed by the rebel Rapid Support Militia against civilians in the country. He also documented the UAE’s support for the militia via Chad.
The minister called on the international community to shoulder its responsibility in preserving international peace and security.
