Sports Sector Receives Head of the Athletics Federation with Mixed Feelings

Bahri – Sudanhorizon

The armed forces, other regular forces, the popular resistance and the mobilized forces succeeded in releasing the head of the Athletics Federation and member of the Sudanese Olympic Committee, Al-Moez Abbas, from the detention centers of the Rapid Support Militia in Bahri.

Social media sites circulated a recent photo of the man after his release from the detention center, showing signs of exhaustion and ill-treatment.

Abbas’s colleagues expressed their happiness at his release from the detention center, while holding the Rapid Support Militia forces responsible for the safety of the athletes who are still in its detention centers, and called on international and human rights organizations and international sports federations to pressure for their release.

The militia arrested Al-Moez from his home in Khartoum Bahri and placed him in detention centers that lack the most basic human rights.

The head of the Athletics Federation suffered the horrors of torture, ill-treatment, and deprivation of treatment and human rights.
