SPJA Calls for Law Enforcement and Adherence to Professional Ethics

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon

The Sudanese Professional Journalists Association (SPJA), in a statement on Saturday reviewed by Sudanhorizon, called for the enforcement of local and international laws to punish the perpetrators of these crimes and to take all legal measures to achieve justice and deterrence to prevent future violations.
The SPJA’s statement urged for the empowerment of journalists to perform their roles freely and without obstacles, as long as they adhere to the law and professional ethics. It expressed solidarity with journalists in the regional and international community facing similar violations.
The statement highlighted the severe abuses that journalists faced during the war, describing it as the most violent and severe in the country’s history, with journalists being clearly and flagrantly targeted to silence them. This included cutting internet services and blocking information.
