The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced on Thursday the suspension of travel for its citizens to South Sudan, along with the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, and the cessation of visa issuance for those arriving from these countries.
This decision comes as part of strict precautionary measures taken by the Public Health Authority “Weqaya” to limit the risks of the Ebola virus outbreak in Africa. The preventive measures announced by the Saudi authorities include: a travel ban, the suspension of travel for Saudi citizens to the three countries, the suspension of visas, the suspension of issuing all types of visas for those arriving from South Sudan, Congo, and Uganda, and a ban on their entry into the Kingdom.
The Saudi authorities added that the decision will also apply to travelers arriving via other countries if they have resided in those countries during the 21 days prior to their arrival. They stated that they will tighten procedures and screening at entry points for those arriving from countries neighboring the outbreak areas
