Return of the Old/New Name in the Eid Speech!!

Mahjoub Fadl Badri
The name “People’s Armed Forces” (P.A.M.) is the name given by the first generation to the Sudanese Army, which was followed by the name “Sudan Defense Force”, then the name “Armed Forces”, which was followed by the name “People’s Armed Forces”. The name was then renamed “Armed Forces”.
Until, by order of Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan Abdel Rahman Al-Burhan, Commander-in-Chief of the People’s Armed Forces, dated March 29, 2025 AD, corresponding to Ramadan 29, 1447 AH Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan renamed the army to the People’s Armed Forces in the aforementioned victory and Eid speech. But what does this mean?
The new name, which everyone must use in all official correspondence and communications, on vehicle license plates, machinery, banners, signs and signals, this is not just a change of name, but a strong indication of recognition of its popular role in the war of dignity, this is an embodiment of the slogan (One People, One Army) that descended from the space of slogans to the ground in the battlefields of the war of dignity, which distinguished the evil from the good, and the patriot from the agent, as stated in the speech of the Commander-in-Chief on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, which came in the spirit of a speech of victory, which will not be complete except by uprooting the last member of the criminal terrorist militia of Al-Dagalo, in any part of our country, while leaving the door ajar for anyone who returns to his senses to benefit from the general amnesty.
The Commander-in-Chief made it clear that the military arrangements are within his power. The legally guaranteed methods of dealing with these issues are available, and His Excellency remained silent about private rights because they are in the hands of their owners.
He emphasized that the Armed Forces of the Sudanese people stand equitably from all components of the Sudanese people and do not side with any party over another. He thus sent a message to all those who promoted the notion that the army is an army of the “Kayzan”(a name used to refer to the previous ruling party).
The Commander-in-Chief added other messages, the most important of which was to the citizens of North Kordofan and Darfur, telling them, “We are coming,” after praising their heroism and patience in the face of the siege imposed on them by the terrorist Al-Dagalo militia and the atrocities it committed against the Sudanese, leaving them with “zero-sum options.” There will be no negotiation or agreement except through complete surrender and the laying down of arms. Then justice will take its course, so that no criminal can escape punishment.
A salute to the Armed Forces of the People and their efforts, for which they paid a heavy price with the blood of their sons. A salute to every single Sudanese person who stood with their armed forces, which are made from them and for them, and aiming to fulfill their aspirations for a dignified life in a homeland that accommodates everyone except those who sell their conscience for a paltry price.
Congratulations on the old-new name, and a happy holiday without the Janjaweed. May Sudan, the Sudanese people, and the Armed Forces of the People’s Armed Forces be well every year.
– Victory to our valiant army, the Armed Forces.
– Pride and strength to our fighting people.
– Shame and disgrace to our enemies and their agents.
