Renovation of Stadiums and Sports Grounds Begins in Khartoum

Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

Work officially began on Tuesday by the Committee for the Rehabilitation and Preparation of Stadiums and Sports Grounds in Khartoum, chaired by the Federal Minister of Youth and Sports, with Osama Atta Al-Manan Hassan, First Vice President of the Sudanese Football Association, serving as Deputy Chair.

The move comes as part of state efforts to restore sports facilities and create the conditions for the return of sporting activity to the capital after a suspension lasting more than two years due to the war.

The committee carried out a clean-up campaign and removed war debris, starting at the Academy Stadium and the Sudanese Football Association Stadium, with the participation of the National Mine Action Centre.

The Federal Minister of Youth and Sports confirmed that the formation of the committee was made by an official decision within a comprehensive vision to address the damage inflicted on sports facilities by the war. He noted that the committee would operate under a clear, phased programme aimed at gradually restoring sporting activity, given the important role of sport in strengthening social stability and boosting youth morale.

For his part, Osama Atta Al-Manan praised the efforts being made by the state to rehabilitate stadiums, affirming the Sudanese Football Association’s commitment to providing technical and administrative support to ensure the success of the committee’s work, and to working hand in hand with the relevant authorities until the stadiums return to service in a condition better than before.
