Qatar and Sudan: A Renewed Humanitarian Presence in Ramadan

Residents of Hai-el –Matar (Airport District) in Port Sudan received the Qatari Ambassador and the Libyan Ambassador to the Al-Nour Mosque, near the Qatar Red Crescent office, shortly before sunset on Thursday. The gathering, held in a spirit of camaraderie and solidarity, was a Ramadan evening marked by warmth and mutual support.
The Qatari Ambassador and embassy staff shared Iftar with the residents in the traditional Sudanese style, reflecting the depth of relations and genuine spirit of participation. Diplomacy blended with affection, and everyone came together at one table, embodying the unifying spirit of Ramadan. The Libyan Ambassador also shared in the joy of the Holy Month of Ramadan, a gesture that was warmly received by those present.
Following the Maghrib prayer, the Al-Nour Mosque committee expressed its gratitude to the Qatari Ambassador for his generous initiative in hosting the communal Iftar for the third consecutive year. His continued presence and participation among the residents added a special humanitarian dimension to the occasion.
Speakers at the event commended the State of Qatar’s unwavering support for Sudan during times of crisis, highlighting its continuous assistance in the health, water, shelter, and food sectors through its renowned humanitarian organizations, most notably the Qatar Red Crescent Society.

Dr. Salah Daak, Head of the Qatar Red Crescent Society office, expressed his appreciation for the Ambassador’s presence and participation in the iftar with the ordinary people in front of the mosque. This event, held for the third consecutive year with the Ambassador’s support, was also commended by the mosque committee. He further praised the staff and volunteers of the Qatar Red Crescent Society who contribute daily to the iftar, which serves between four and five hundred fasting individuals each day.
At the conclusion of the evening, the worshippers and mosque staff bid farewell to the Ambassador and his delegation, expressing their happiness and gratitude for this generous gesture, which embodied the spirit of brotherhood and solidarity during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
