President Afwerki Reaffirms Eritrea’s Full Support to Sudan

President Isaias Afwerki of Eritrea received Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idris in the capital, Asmara, on Thursday. Idris, is currently on a two-day official visit to Eritrea.
The Sudan News Agency reported that the meeting discussed ways to develop joint cooperation between Sudan and Eritrea in various fields.
Both sides affirmed their keenness to strengthen relations to serve the interests of the two peoples and enhance stability and development in the region, the agency reported.
Prime Minister Idris expressed his deep appreciation for Eritrea’s supportive stance toward Sudan, praising President Afwerki’s efforts in supporting the Sudanese government and people, in light of the current challenges.
For his part, President Afwerki affirmed his country’s full support for Sudan and reiterated Eritrea’s firm position in supporting Sudan’s stability and unity, and its support for the Sudanese people to achieve peace, development, and prosperity.
The two sides also discussed regional and international developments, stressing the importance of coordinating positions and intensifying cooperation to address challenges.
Idris arrived in Asmara earlier Thursday and was received at the airport by Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh.
