Preparatory workshops for 2ND -Sudanese-Egyptian Businessmen Forum begin

The preparatory workshops for the second Sudanese Egyptian Businessmen Forum was launched in Cairo, Egypt, on Tuesday morning .
The first workshop was titled “Food and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing between Egypt and Sudan: Opportunities and Challenges.”
Dr. Nazmi Abdel Hamid, a representative of the Egyptian-Sudanese Company, said that the forum comes in response to the directives of the two countries’ presidents, along with the desire to transform what connects the two sides into concrete projects that meet the needs of both countries.
Addressing the opening session, Nazmi has emphasized that the private sector represents the backbone of advancing the process of economic integration between the two countries.
He considered the workshops to be platforms for developing a roadmap for integration between the two countries. He emphasized that food and health security are the foundation of any sustainable development.

He added that Egypt possesses a massive industrial infrastructure, while Sudan, in contrast, is rich in natural resources and diverse water sources, which constitute a significant basis for integration between the two countries and create a force capable of providing food for both countries, reducing the food bill, and expanding exports to neighboring countries.
He pointed out that the Egyptian-Sudanese Company believes that partnership between the Nile Valley is essential for moving toward industrial and agricultural integration and transforming challenges into opportunities.
He further noted that a platform must be created for serious dialogue and opening new horizons in the pharmaceutical and food manufacturing sectors.
For his part, Karim Abu Ghaly, a member of the Board of Directors of the Export Council for Food Industries, pointed out that the two countries share common strategic interests, and that food security has become a national security issue.
He emphasized that integration between the two countries contributes to creating strategic strength, stressing that integration is a civilized project that enhances food security.
He revealed the volume of Egyptian exports to Sudan, is estimated at $223 million in flour, and the total value of Egyptian exports to Sudan amounts to $390 million.
