PM leads Sudan Delegation, Addresses UN General Assembly 80th Session

The Sudanese interim Prime Minister, Dr. Kamal Idris, will lead the government delegation to the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, which begins meetings on Tuesday.

According to the latest schedule received by Sudanhorizon news site, Idris will deliver Sudan’s statement to the General Assembly on the 27th of this month. His address will focus on the ongoing war in the country, which has been raging for more than two years, the humanitarian repercussions, the damage to infrastructure, and the external parties fueling the conflict.

The delegation accompanying the Prime Minister to New York includes the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Muhi-Eddin Salih, and the Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Khalid Al-Aisir, who will accompany the Prime Minister. The delegation also includes senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and other relevant ministries.

The Prime Minister is expected to participate in several events and meetings held in conjunction with the 80th session of the General Assembly and hold a number of meetings with UN officials and heads of other delegation.

It is noted that the situation in Sudan will be on the agenda of several regional meetings, including those of the African Union and the Arab League, as well as meetings of UN organizations concerned with peace and humanitarian affairs.
