PM Debriefed on Ministry of Social Welfare’s Efforts to Support IDP Camps

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris met with the Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare, Mutasim Ahmed Saleh, at his office in Khartoum on Friday. During the meeting, the Prime Minister was debriefed on the Ministry’s efforts to support IDP camps in the Northern State, providing them with winter supplies, as well as the support provided to 650,000 families as part of the Ministry’s Ramadan program.
A press release issued by the Prime Minister’s office stated that the meeting also addressed the humanitarian aid delivered to South Kordofan State and its capital, Kadugli, through convoys carrying food and medicine. The meeting also emphasized the urgent need to support and assist IDPs in El Obeid and surrounding areas through a collaborative effort involving government agencies, the local community, and regional and international organizations.
The meeting stressed the importance of unifying the social responsibility of all state institutions, improving the management of IDP camps, and coordinating humanitarian aid efforts to support IDPs in a way that ensures their stability.
For his part, the Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare emphasized the importance of organizing social protection resources and regulating the work of the Zakat Bureau, developing a new vision for it to contribute to alleviating poverty among citizens and those in need.
He also stated his ministry’s commitment to developing health insurance to achieve comprehensive coverage for citizens.
