Out of El Fasher Wounds, Pride Will Surge Once Again.

Heba Mahmoud Sadiq Farid

It is nothing but a passing cloud of sadness raining heroism, bravery, and dignity. El Fasher, that steadfast city on the brink of pain, only fell with its body. Its spirit, however, remains steadfast, resisting death with life, defeat with pride, and tears with covenant.

What happened in El Fasher is not the end of the road, but rather the beginning of a new chapter in the story of a nation that will not kneel, and a people that will not die, no matter how long the night.

El Fasher today mourns its martyrs and heals its wounds with its soil. But amidst the destruction beats a heart of faith, patience, and determination, whispering that Sudan is still alive, and that every dark cloud must dissipate, even if only after a while.

O Allah, there is no power or strength except with You…
The fall of El Fasher is not just a passing event on the news. It is an earthquake that shakes the conscience of every Sudanese, a wound in the heart of the nation, and a tear in the eye of everyone who knows the meaning of Sudan and the meaning of El Fasher, this city that was a symbol of resilience and a voice of life despite all the wounds.

What happened yesterday was not just the loss of a city, but the loss of a part of the Sudanese spirit—its history, its people, and that hope that was still resisting under the rubble.

How painful it is to witness cities once filled with people, laughter, markets, and warmth, transformed into ruins, an echo of the groans of the displaced, the missed and the oppressed.

We are sad, yes… we are sad because we were unable to protect our land and our people, and because we allowed our differences to steal our homeland from us piece by piece.

We are sad because El Fasher, once the jewel of Darfur, has now become a symbol of pain and loss, a witness to the injustice of man by man. We are angry, yes… we are angry because this fall was not a sudden fate, but rather the result of long-standing betrayal, prolonged silence, and internal strife that tore our ranks apart until we became prey for merciless ambitions.

We mourn with deep sorrow our martyrs, the righteous who irrigated the soil of El Fasher and all of Sudan with their blood—men and women, civilians and military—who resisted until the last moment, standing up to defend the nation’s honor and dignity.

We prey to Allah to accept them into the highest heavens, to grant them Paradise, and to bestow their families with patience and solace.

We salute the steadfastness of the Sudanese Army, the joint forces, and the mobilized people, those who stood up to the machine of destruction despite their limited equipment and the numerous challenges faced. Their steadfastness is an honor to the nation, a determination that reminds us that in Sudan there are men who will not sell their land or betray their covenant, and that the flame of resistance has not and will not be extinguished.

Let everyone know that we will never forget the massacres and violations committed against innocent civilians in El Fasher and across Sudan. The killing, displacement, looting, and destruction committed by the Rapid Support Forces and their allies will never be erased from our memory.

History will never forgive anyone who supported, funded, or justified them, because anyone who participates in injustice is a partner in the crime, and anyone who remains silent about falsehood is accepting it. The Sudanese people will never forget, and they will never accept the imposition on them those whose hands are stained with blood.

Despite all this darkness, one thing remains within us that is invincible: the belief that Sudan will not die, that El Fasher will rise one day as it did before, and that Allah will not let down those who are sincere and work for what is right.
