Official Directives to Cover Costs for Evacuation of Sudanese Nationals from Iran
Tehran – Maryam Abasher
The Sudanese embassy in Tehran is expected to have begun evacuating Sudanese nationals from Iran as of Tuesday.
According to Sudanhorizon follow-up on the evacuation file with the embassy, the first group to be evacuated will consist of a number of students who will be joining their families in the Sultanate of Oman, as confirmed earlier to Sudanhorizon News by the head of the embassy, Ambassador Abdul Aziz Hassan Saleh.
Ambassador Saleh told Sudanhorizon that the costs of the evacuation for the Sudanese community will be borne by the Sudanese government, represented by the Ministry of Finance.
In a related development, Prime Minister Kamil Idris Tuesday directed the urgent evacuation of Sudanese students at Iranian universities via Turkey, at the government’s expense.
The Sudanese embassy in Tehran had previously put in place an emergency plan to evacuate the Sudanese community in Iran following the security tensions that preceded the outbreak of the US-Israeli war on Tehran.
