Ministry of Livestock Emphasizes Optimal Utilization of Eid Adhah Animal Hides

The Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries has underlined the importance of utilizing the approaching Hajj season to maximize the benefit from the abundance of animal hides and avoid the waste plaguing the leather sector.
Minister Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri, addressing the “Stopping Waste of Sacrificial Animal Hides” workshop organized by the Ministry in cooperation with the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) on Thursday in Khartoum, stated that the leather sector faces significant waste and neglect due to mismanagement, underutilization, and insufficient coordination among relevant authorities. He pointed out that this results in the state treasury losing millions of dollars annually from a resource that could significantly contribute to the national economy.
Minister Al-Mansouri noted that the waste and misuse of hides also lead to substantial economic losses, in addition to the environmental problems caused by the resulting waste.
