Ministry of Livestock: Comprehensive Database for Sudan’s Livestock Sector

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, Dr. Ammar Al-Sheikh Idris, has called for the establishment of a comprehensive database for the livestock sector, considering it a crucial step towards transforming operations and production, improving efficiency, and accelerating performance.

He emphasized that digital transformation and artificial intelligence technologies are among the most important tools that help institutions achieve institutional excellence by improving performance, raising the quality of services, increasing efficiency, and supporting faster and more accurate decision-making.

The minister made the remarks during his address on Sunday, before the opening of a training course on “Artificial Intelligence in the Livestock Sector,” organized by the Ministry in cooperation with the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development.

The course is attended by directors of general departments and units within the Ministry, as well as a representative of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development.

The Undersecretary pointed to the importance of cooperation and coordination between the Ministry and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development in the field of training and capacity building, which contributes to qualifying employees and raising the level of institutional performance.

The Sheikh explained that the Ministry places great importance on its staff in utilizing artificial intelligence tools and applications through modern means, and in implementing them in livestock production cities to support small producers.

For his part, Professor Osama Abdel Wahab, an expert, emphasized the importance of artificial intelligence in developing the Ministry’s activities and its contribution to decision-making, enhancing institutional excellence, and ensuring the sustainable development of the sector. He expressed his hope that employees would benefit from the training course’s outcomes and apply them in practice, thereby creating a significant leap forward in the livestock sector and strengthening its contribution to the national product.

It is worth noting that the Ministry is currently working on developing a digital transformation strategy aimed at connecting all its departments and branches to a unified information network to serve producers and exporters.
