Ministry of Health: Sudan Free of Cholera
Khartoum -Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese Ministry of Health has revealed that the country is free of cholera. In a press release issued Wednesday , the Ministry confirmed that no cases have been recorded in any state since January 14th, according to scientific data and international health regulations, as reported by the Sudan News Agency.
Sudan had declared the outbreak of cholera in August 2024 amidst extremely complex circumstances of war, displacement, and limited funding. However, the intensive health efforts exerted by the Ministry and its international and regional partners succeeded in containing the disease, a significant medical achievement given the prevailing challenges.
The national campaign, led by the Ministry’s teams, included the distribution of more than 20 million doses of the vaccine, the implementation of more than one hundred medical campaigns, and the convening of 130 meetings of the Central Health Emergency Room to monitor the response.
The Ministry of Health praised the role of the “White Army” of medical personnel and partners in success who contributed to achieving this accomplishment, stressing that health threats still exist, which requires continued vigilance and readiness to maintain the safety of citizens.
