The Federal Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday that 100 tons of medicine were dispatched to Gezira State. The shipment, managed by the Medical Supplies Corporation, is expected to arrive within two days.
Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim met with the Deputy Director of Medical Services in the Armed Forces (Medical Corps), Major General Qasim Al-Zain, and Dr. Mohamed Babiker, Head of Medical Supplies, at his office in the quarantine facilities in Port Sudan. The meeting focused on coordinating the Ministry of Health and the Armed Forces medical services.
The meeting reviewed a report on the restoration of medical services in most military institutions, particularly in hospitals in Port Sudan, Atbara, Shendi, and other locations.
In a press statement following the meeting, Dr Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim noted that the Armed Forces Medical Services Directorate confirmed the feasibility of resuming kidney transplant operations at the Medical Corps Hospital and cardiac catheterisation procedures at Alia Hospital. He highlighted the importance of coordination in operationalising and enhancing other hospitals.
