Ministry of Health Launches Start Training of 5,000 Traffic Personnel in First Aid

The Federal Ministry of Health held a joint coordination meeting on Thursday in Port Sudan with the General Traffic Department of the Sudanese Police and the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, aimed to train some 5,000 traffic police personnel in ten Sudanese states.
A circular by the Ministry of Health, said the project aims to build the capacity of traffic personnel in the field of first aid and expand the base of qualified personnel to quickly respond to injured persons, contributing to reducing the rates of fatalities and disability resulting from traffic accidents.
The Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health – Minister in Charge – Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, stated that the program represents a qualitative shift in the development of the community emergency care system and enhances integration between the health and traffic sectors in critical situations.
The training workshops are expected to begin in the coming period in coordination with the National Agency for Emergency Care and Ambulance, ensuring coverage of all targeted states and achieving the initiative’s objectives of improving traffic safety.
The Director of the National Agency for Emergency Care and Ambulance, Dr. Mohi El-Din Hassan, expressed belief in the role of partners in expanding the scope of pre-hospital emergency care and seeking to leverage the presence of first-response personnel from the police and Red Crescent and develop their emergency capabilities. This is in line with the agency’s plan to reduce the burden on healthcare facilities and minimize death rate at accident sites.
The representative of the General Traffic Department, Brigadier General Haider Habib Allah Abbas, has commended the Federal Ministry of Health for this initiative. He also pointed out to the importance of continuing the activity due to the constant rotation of personnel and their presence at the scene of critical incidents.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Sudanese Red Crescent, Dr. Bahaa El-Din Mohamed, emphasized that the Red Crescent’s policy is to assist the Ministry of Health in implementing its policies and that all Red Crescent branches in the states are ready to participate in these workshops.
