Ministry of Finance to Cover Costs for Brining Home Sudanese Nationals in Oman

The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Gibril Ibrahim, announced that the ministry will cover the cost of bringing home 1,500 Sudanese nationals found in violation of residency laws in the Sultanate of Oman, free of charge as a first stage.
The ministry will operate 12 flights between July 23 and 31, in coordination with the Sudanese Embassy in Muscat. The flights will be operated by the national airlines Sudan Air, Badr, and Tarco, in coordination with the Sudanese Embassy in Muscat.
During an expanded meeting between the Minister and representatives of the national airlines, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and the Sudanese Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman (online), it was agreed that each of the aforementioned airlines will operate four flights during the said period.
The relevant authorities in the Sultanate of Oman have set July 31 as the final date for violators to regularize their status or depart, after they were exempted from fines, thanks to the commendable efforts of the Sudanese Embassy. The attendees expressed their sincere thanks and appreciation to the government of the Sultanate of Oman for welcoming Sudanese citizens during the war, for its understanding of the situation of violators, and for exempting them from fines, which facilitated their departure to the country.
It is worth noting that the total number of violators stranded in the Sultanate of Oman is approximately 3,000 Sudanese citizens. They will be repatriated in two batches. The first phase includes violators in critical conditions, reference to those required to be urgently deported before July 31, totaling 1,500 citizens.
The voluntary return program will continue to facilitate the repatriation of non-violators who wish to return to home in the coming period.
