The Director General of Oil Facilities, Engineer Mohammed Awad Al-Khair, announced that the Ministry of Energy and Oil has adopted new fuel specifications.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Oil on Wednesday, the new standards, effective as of yesterday (Tuesday), include switching to gasoline with an octane rating of 91 instead of the previously used 90-octane gasoline.
Additionally, the new specifications include low-sulfur diesel fuel that aligns with global standards for sulfur content.
This adjustment was necessitated by the global shift toward reducing harmful emissions caused by fuel combustion, aiming to minimize environmental impact.
The approved specifications are designed to offer enhanced protection and a longer lifespan for engines and machinery, aligning with the latest advancements in fuel combustion technology.
The new standards also ensure better fuel efficiency, contributing to more effective fuel economy. Furthermore, they provide high-quality fuel that matches the cost borne by citizens, especially following the liberalization of fuel prices.
It is worth noting that 95-octane gasoline (super gasoline) is also included in the new standards and will be available to companies that prepare their infrastructure to handle this type of fuel.
