Ministers: Khartoum-Juba Cooperation in Oil Sector Continues Despite Challenges

The Sudanese Energy Minister, Moatasem Ibrahim Ahmed, on Sunday said challenges and obstacles will not deter cooperation between Khartoum and Juba in the oil and energy sectors.
The Sudanese Minister pointed out in his meeting with the South Sudanese Foreign Minister, Monday Semaia Kumba, in Port Sudan, has emphasized the importance of the maintenance of the pipelines, pumping stations, and treatment plants despite all the challenges.
He also emphasized the continuation of the electrical connection between the two countries.
He pointed to the need for continued cooperation and exchange of expertise and offered the South Sudanese side full cooperation in exchanging expertise and resolving technical issues, in addition to training personnel.
For his part, the South Sudanese Foreign Minister extended an invitation to the Energy Minister to visit Juba.
The two sides discussed continued coordination between companies in the two countries, as well as the importance of joint cooperation to attract international investment.
Meanwhile Sudan’s Ambassador to Juba, Issam Karrar, has described the visit as historic, as it is the first visit by the South Sudanese Foreign Minister since the outbreak of the war, emphasizing the brotherly spirit and extensive cooperation in all fields with the South Sudanese side
