Minister of Justice Discusses Judicial Cooperation with His Malian Counterpart

On the sidelines of his participation in the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Sudan’s Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Draf, met with the Minister of Justice and Human Rights of the Mali, Mr. Mamadou Massougu, to discuss prospects for cooperation and coordination between the two countries in international forums—particularly in the fields of human rights and legal and judicial cooperation—within the framework of the evolving fraternal relations binding the two nations.

The meeting was attended by the State Minister at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Welfare, Dr. Salima Ishaq Al-Khalifa, along with representatives of the two delegations and their respective missions in Geneva.

According to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), the Minister of Justice provided a briefing on the situation in the country and issues related to human rights, especially judicial efforts aimed at consolidating justice and the rule of law, ensuring accountability, preventing impunity, protecting civilians, and addressing violations and abuses of human rights and international humanitarian law. He also reviewed the government’s peace initiatives, including the implementation of the transitional roadmap and the Government of Hope peace initiative.

For his part, the Malian Minister of Justice welcomed the level of multifaceted relations between the two countries and their brotherly peoples. He affirmed the central role Sudan plays within its African surroundings, stressing his country’s commitment to Sudan’s stability and reiterating Mali’s support for Sudan’s unity and sovereignty over its territory.
