The Minister of Animal and Fisheries Resources, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri, presented to the leadership of Nile River State Government his vision to launch his ministry’s strategic plan from the state by establishing a major city for animal production and processing.
On Friday in Al-Damer, the minister met with Nile River State Governor Dr. Mohamed Al-Badawi Abdel Majid, Deputy Governor Mustafa Al-Sharif, Secretary-General of the Government Osman Mohamed Osman, and employees of the state’s Ministry of Animal Resources. He informed them that the initiative is based on the creation of a free zone, which would serve as the nucleus of national projects aimed at strengthening the national economy and attracting both domestic and foreign investments.
Al-Tijani explained that the Animal Production City would include farms for cattle, sheep, goats, and camels, as well as factories for meat processing and packaging according to international standards, with the aim of obtaining international quality certifications such as ISO to ensure competitiveness in global markets.
The city would also include factories for dairy and its products, leather and its derivatives, such as bags, shoes, belts, and leather clothing, in addition to incorporating by-products like cattle horns and intestines into industrial processing.
The minister pointed out that the project would integrate local herders and small-scale producers by supporting them through the upgrading of barns, provision of medicines and concentrated fodder, and the introduction of modern technologies in embryo transfer and artificial insemination, thereby improving production and increasing added value.
Al-Tijani stressed that Nile River State was chosen for the project because of its proximity to export ports and access to regional and international markets, in addition to the availability of pastures and its comparative advantages in the field of animal production—ensuring that products reach Arab and European markets fresh.
