Members of the Congress Point Fingers Again at the UAE for the RSF Militia’s Attrocities in Sudan

Washington – Sudanhorizon
Senior US lawmakers from the US Senate have once again renewed their accusation that the United Arab Emirates continue to provide weapons and tools of killing against civilians in Sudan, by supporting the Rapid Support Militia, saying President Trump should not complete the arms deal that began during his visit to the Gulf region, which he concluded Friday.
Senator Van Hollen posted on his account on the US Congress website a statement objecting with others to the $1.6 billion arms deal that the United States will supply to the UAE, and called for it not to be completed until the UAE proves that it will not supply weapons to the RSF in the Sudan.
He said he has repeatedly said, the United States should not provide weapons to the UAE until the UAE stops arming the deadly Rapid Support Forces – a paramilitary group in Sudan that has prolonged the civil war, provoked a humanitarian catastrophe, and committed genocide.
The statement argued that the United States should not sell weapons to the UAE while it is aiding this humanitarian disaster and grossly violating human rights.
It noted that American Democrats Chris Murphy, Chris Van Hollen, Brian Schatz, Tim Kaine, and independent member Bernie Sanders, who collaborates with the Democrats, raised joint resolutions of disapproval regarding the $1.6 billion arms sale to the United Arab Emirates.
The resolution in the Senate aims to block three arms deals with the UAE and stop arms sales to it due to allegations of its involvement in the civil war in Sudan and concerns over cryptocurrency-related links. This came on the same day that Republican President Trump announced $200 billion in new deals with the Gulf states, charging that President Trump was ‘actively engaged in the corruption of American foreign policy.’
It added that US Senators Chris Van Hollen, Chris Murphy, Brian Schatz, and Tim Kaine, members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and US Senator Bernie Sanders, on Thursday, submitted joint disapproval resolutions (JRD) that would ban three arms deals with.
By presenting joint rejection decisions (JRD) that would prohibit three arms deals in favour of the United Arab Emirates. The statement noted that at the Token 2049 digital currency conference in Dubai in April, MGX, an investment company backed by Emiratis, announced that it would use a stablecoin issued by World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency company directly backed by the Trump family, to facilitate a $2 billion investment in a cryptocurrency exchange. The statement also raised concerns about the UAE arming the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which have killed tens of thousands of people in Sudan and exacerbated the civil war in that country.
The three sales included six CH-47F Block II Chinook helicopters and related equipment worth $1.32 billion, F-16 aircraft components, accessories, and defense services worth $130 million, and spare parts and repairs to support the UAE’s fleet of AH-64 Apache, UH-60 Black Hawk, and CH-47 Chinook helicopters, along with logistical and other software support worth $150 million.
The American senator added that this corrupt deal involving the Trump family in the cryptocurrency sector must be stopped. In exchange for weapons, ‘We are using our influence to prevent further suffering in Sudan – and to end the civil war peacefully,’ he added.
The Emiratis have invested $2 billion in a company run by the children of the President of the United States and his special envoy to the Middle East. Now, the administration wants to sell $1.6 billion worth of military aircraft to the UAE. Trump’s foreign policy is really simple – to make his family richer in exchange for rewards such as arms sales and access to our latest computer chips.’
Senator Murphy stated that if a foreign government is involved in this kind of corruption by directly enriching the President and his family, we will be forced to have a full discussion in the Senate about this behaviour and to vote on their security relationship with the United States,’ Murphy added. ‘
Everywhere I go in Virginia, I hear about how concerned people are regarding rising prices due to Trump’s tariffs and the massive cuts he is trying to implement on essential government services, including Medicaid. At the same time, he was conspiring on secret plans with corrupt foreign governments to enrich himself through cryptocurrency deals, golf courses, and a luxury jet?’ For his part, Schatz announced:
“Trump’s personal relationships with the UAE while pushing for American arms sales represent a clear conflict of interest. The leader of the free world should not behave this way in foreign policy.” “The UAE is exploiting Trump’s greed by funnelling $2 billion through a cryptocurrency scheme, which will bring his family tens of millions annually, while engaging with the President for arms sales and access to sensitive technology. This is blatant corruption, and we must not let it continue,” said Senator Sanders.
