Measures to Enhance Northern State Electricity Supply Stability

The Director General of the Sudan Electricity Holding Company, Abdullah Ahmed Mohamed Ali, announced a package of measures and projects aimed at increasing the stability of the electricity supply in Northern State.
This came during his inspection visit to the state on Monday, which included the Merowe power station and meeting with the Governor of Northern State, Lieutenant General Abdul Rahman Abdul Hamid, in the city of Dongola, according to a statement issued by the company’s Media office.
The Director General revealed the success of the technical teams in restoring power to Northern State after the completion of complex maintenance operations and significant efforts. He explained that the company is working diligently to repair the transformers damaged by repeated attacks by the rebel militia on the Al-Ghazala, Merowe, and Dongola substations.
Mohamed Ali affirmed that the coming period will witness practical steps to enhance power generation, including the operation of an emergency thermal power plant in the city of Karima after securing the necessary fuel, and the continuation of technical efforts to strengthen the outputs of the electrical interconnection with Egypt.
