Malik Agar to Sudanhorizon:We did not discuss dissolving the Sovereign Council at All

Cairo – Sudanhorizon – Sabah Moussa

The Deputy Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereign Council, Malik Agar, affirmed on Saturday that no decision whatsoever has been discussed regarding the dissolution of the Sovereign Council.

In an exclusive statement to the Sudanhorizon news website, Agar said: “I have no knowledge of what is being circulated about dissolving the Sovereign Council.”

He added: “We did not discuss dissolving the Sovereign Council at all,” describing the leak as an “illegitimate child” with no origin.

Regarding the return of the Sovereign Council to Khartoum to resume its work from there, Agar said that if the government returns, all its institutions will return as well.

In recent days, widespread reports circulated about a move toward dissolving the Sovereign Council. Some leaks claimed that the dissolution would retain certain members of the Council, such as Lt. Gen. Shams El-Din Kabbashi, Lt. Gen. Yasser Al-Atta, and a number of leaders of the Joint Forces.

Meanwhile, the political adviser to the Sudanese Prime Minister, Mohamed Mohamed Khair, also denied any intention to dissolve the Sovereign Council. In a previous statement to Sudanhorizon, Khair said: “There is no direction whatsoever toward dissolving the Council.”
