Launch of Export of 2,500 Sheep to Saudi Arabia

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries, Dr. Ammar Al-Sheikh Idris, inaugurated the first shipment of Sudanese livestock exports following vaccination, consisting of 2,500 head of sheep destined for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The launch took place at the Inspection and Vaccination Center in Omdurman.
This shipment is considered the first livestock export from the Sudanese capital since its liberation from the militia.
Dr. Ammar described the step as a positive beginning for the resumption of exports and an important move to boost the national economy, emphasizing that animal resources represent a key pillar in driving development efforts undertaken by the Government of Hope. He confirmed that the exported shipment is free from diseases, noting Sudan’s commitment to applying internationally recognized health requirements. He also pointed out that the Investment Law provides full guarantees for both domestic and foreign investors.
The undersecretary further revealed that several countries have expressed interest in investing in the animal resources sector, outlining the ministry’s ongoing efforts to protect and develop the national livestock herd.
For her part, the Director of the Inspection and Vaccination Center at the General Administration of Quarantine and Meat Health, Dr. Izdihar Al-Khalifa, stated that livestock vaccination operations will continue following the removal of the obstacles caused by the Rapid Support Forces militia, which launched the war in mid-April 2023.
