The Ministry of Health in Khartoum signed a memorandum of understanding on Sunday with the Sudanese Association for the Support and Localization of Liver Transplantation. The agreement aims to support liver transplant localization programs, build medical and technical capacity, train healthcare personnel, exchange expertise, and coordinate efforts to provide advanced treatment services for liver patients inside the country. This initiative seeks to reduce the need for treatment abroad and ease the burden on patients and their families.
In a press statement, the ministry said that Dr. Fath Al-Rahman Mohammed Al-Amin, Director General of the Ministry of Health in Khartoum State and Acting Minister, signed on behalf of the ministry, while Dr. Mohammed Sharif, President of the Sudanese Association for the Support and Localization of Liver Transplantation, signed on behalf of the association.
Dr. Fath Al-Rahman underscored the importance of partnerships with specialized associations to strengthen the health system, noting that localizing liver transplantation represents a strategic priority amid the growing need for such complex medical interventions.
For his part, Dr. Mohammed Sharif expressed his appreciation for the ministry’s cooperation, affirming the association’s commitment to leveraging its resources and expertise to ensure the success of localization programs and expand services in ways that enhance the quality of healthcare provided to liver patients in the state.
